Ways You Can Contribute to the Ramp Your Voice! Disability Movement
WINNSBORO, SC (July 29, 2014) As the anniversary month for Ramp Your Voice! winds down, I wanted to inform my readers and supporters on how you can contribute to the empowering disability movement this organization is spearheading.
Share Your disABILITY Story to be Featured on the Ramp Your Voice! Blog:
I am searching for disabled women, particularly those of color, to interview for the blog. I thoroughly enjoyed reading and sharing the stories of the disabled women I have met online and have become friends with. Allowing them to have a platform where they could open up about their disability experiences, the good and the difficult, shed tremendous light and broke down stereotypes about what it meant to be disabled in society. I ardently believe that when we share our testimonies, ignorance and myths have less room to thrive. I am hoping to conduct interviews every month on the blog, but in order to do that, I need YOU to reach out to have your voices heard!
Spread the Word about the Various Services Ramp Your Voice! has to Offer:
This summer, I have taken the time to revamp the Ramp Your Voice! services to attract and reach diverse groups that would benefit from my professional knowledge and personal testimony about the disability experience. When you click on the RYV! Services page on the website, you will read a description of how the services offered came to be, and links to read details regarding each service, and forms to complete to request them.
Here are the growing list of services you can request of or make a referral to from Ramp Your Voice! As the organization expands, so will the types of services offered to interested persons and key stakeholders impacted by the disabled experience:
#IAmAble! Presentations and Motivational Speaking
(Being a disabled advocate speaker is something I want to experience more of. If you work at and/or are a member of a school/university, public or private sector organization (this includes non-profits), speakers bureau, and any other institution or group that are constantly seeking empowering speakers and presenters, do review this service and contact me by filling out the form.)
Make a Monetary Donation:
As a start-up organization, it is challenging to not have all of the equipment and resources needed to bring Ramp Your Voice! further along. It takes time to build a clientele, and in that, it has taken me a great while to obtain a small number of resources for this organization.
Donations will be used in the following ways:
Incorporate Ramp Your Voice! as a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) and have a business license in South Carolina;
Acquire new equipment that will allow me connect with clients, advocates, and the public virtually by hosting webchats, creating a vlog series on YouTube, and a podcast series on SoundCloud;
Obtain a reliable and fully functioning laptop and software for presentations and speaking engagements;
Acquire appropriate insurances and related legal organizational protection requirements;
Obtain marketing materials to spread the word about Ramp Your Voice! in the community, and online; and
Purchase other resources/services outlined in the Ramp Your Voice!’s financial pieces of the organization’s business plan.
If you are willing to give a donation to assist in these efforts, please make your checks or money orders out to me, Vilissa Thompson, and send them to the following address:

Your contribution, whether small or large, will be greatly appreciated. It is not the amount that matters; it is the fact that you believe in this organization, and want to see it thrive and leave a lasting impact on the disability community.
Continue to Support the Ramp Your Voice! Movement:
Of all the ways you can contribute that I have listed, the most important one is receiving your continual support of Ramp Your Voice! Your support by resharing articles on the blog, emailing your stories/comments/thoughts to me, telling your networks about RYV! and what it is doing for the disability community, and requesting or referring someone to the services RYV! has to offer are invaluable.
Without your much needed and forever appreciated support, RYV! would not be where it is today, or go where it has the potential to be in the years to come. If you want to learn more about how you can become involved in this important movement, send me an email at Vilissa@rampyourvoice.com.
